June 30, 2008 — In most artists’ gameplans, a video comes after the song gets recorded, but for Sugarland, "All I Want To Do" owes its entire existence to a home video that had already been shot. The video featured Kristian Bush’s daughter, Camille, who turned three earlier this month.
"Kristian, I always ask him to bring home videos of his kids, because not only are they beautiful, but kids in general are hysterically funny," Jennifer Nettles notes. "There was a video of his daughter, who was two-and-a-half at the time, dancing, and his wife was trying to get her to dance. And so his wife was singing, ‘Do do do do do, do do do do do, do do do do do.’ And so whenever we heard that, I said, ‘That’s good.’ And everybody was laughing, and he was like, ‘Yeah, I know.’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no...that’s really good — like that’s hooky. We need to write a song around that.’ And so we did, and a fun song came out of it, and one that’s light-hearted and obviously danceable for a two-year-old."
People of all age brackets are apparently digging "All I Want To Do." The song hit No. 10 last week on the Country Aircheck singles chart just five weeks after its initial release. Sugarland’s third album, Love On The Inside, will soon be out as well. The CD is set for release July 22.
