America’s largest Country music talent contest is coming to Chicagoland on Sunday, July 6th, and you could compete in it at Lisle Balloon Festival! The Colgate Country Showdown, presented by Jewel-Osco, has been a career builder for more Country artists than any other contest in history. Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Sara Evans and LeAnn Rimes all competed in the Showdown.
The national Colgate Country Showdown winner will receive $100,000 and get to perform on national television. Brought to you by Jewel-Osco and Colgate Total. Seven contestants will be chosen to compete in the local round of the Colgate Country Showdown, which will be held at he 2008 Lisle "Eyes to the Skies" Hot Air Festival on July 6, 2008.  Songwriting assistance is available through the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Members of the Chicago Chapter of NSAI live and work throughout the Chicago area, and many are available to cowrite with singers. Non-members are also welcome to attend 1-2 NSAI meetings to learn about the craft of songwriting and, if desired, to have an original song critiqued and possibly fine-tuned.
